Azrock by Tarkett announced today its receipt of a 2008 Gold ADEX award for Karim Kolors and a Platinum ADEX award for Added Dimensions. An award program that honors the highest quality in product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes, ADEX, Awards for Design Excellence, has been recognizing superior product design since 1994.
"Both truly unique to the resilient flooring industry, Karim Kolors and Added Dimensions offer customizable flooring on a whole new level," said Diane Martel, vice president marketing Tarkett Commercial Tile. "Best of NeoCon 2007 award winner for the resilient flooring category, Karim Kolors is already a hit with the A&D community. The tiles’ dramatic shapes and colors allow designers to create whimsical and unique floor designs to give a facility that ‘wow’ factor."
Available in ten vibrant hues and now available in five different shapes, Karim Kolors was designed to make a powerful design statement by providing bold colors and uniquely shaped tiles. Karim Kolors are available in large format 16" x 16" tiles square tiles or in Shapes: Tide, Hive, Node and Tri.
Two shapes, Tide and Hive, can be found in our natural surroundings. Tide features a curvilinear design resembling the movement of water as one would find a wave occurring in the ocean. Hive is a hexagon shape which can be seen in the honeycomb of a beehive. Karim Shapes also includes two modern, geometric figures Node and Tri. Node is similar to an hourglass shape and Tri is a triangle. Seeming simple at first glance, Karim Shapes can be organized and rearranged for a wide variety of dramatically different visuals from simple and serene to bold and dynamic.
"Now more than ever, architects and designers want their designs to be unique. They want to feel that they have truly created something that is their design," said Martel. "Added Dimensions enables them to do this through the use of different texture, tile size, tile shape or by adding an edge treatment."
Added Dimensions was created to customize Azrock’s Achieve commercial homogeneous tile. This new tool enables designers, architects and flooring contractors to customize Azrock’s most popular homogeneous products by selecting the pattern, texture, tile size and grout treatment. Designed to maximize creativity, Added Dimensions offers hundreds of flooring choices, each customized per order. With over 60 SKU’s to transform, Added Dimensions utilizes the top-selling Azrock tiles available in ColorWorks: Milano, Cortina Grande and SolidAir. Customizable options include:
Pattern – Offering the most popular commercial homogeneous tile patterns, Added Dimensions allows designers to choose from Karim Kolors, Milano, Cortina Grande and SolidAir.
Texture – Options include smooth surface or textured surface options: slate or rustic stone. In its natural form, slate is a dense and fine-grained metamorphic rock that splits into thin slabs along planar surfaces. These thin layers of rock extrude through the surface, providing an often directional, thin-layered surface texture, which has become the hallmark feature of slate looks. The feel of a rustic stone-like surface will be irregular and somewhat rough, though the ridges will not be sharp.
Tile size – Designers may choose between the popular 12"x 12" format or the expansive 16" x 16" size tiles that offer a high-end look to any installation.
Edge treatment – For a custom look, a grout treatment, called GroutFit, may be added to the tile.
